I am Saugat Poudel. I make reCalm.
reCalm is an iOS app that puts one breath between you and the apps that pull at you. You pick the apps. The next time you reach for one on autopilot, you meet a pebble called Timi instead of the feed. Take one breath and you are through.
The one rule
It is not a blocker. Every shield opens after one breath, and everything opens by itself after fifteen minutes even if you do nothing. An app that can lock you out of your own phone has stopped being on your side. Scrolling is not the problem. Not noticing is.
How it is made
One person, one app. It is built with React Native and Expo, and it leans on Apple's own Screen Time framework, which means the list of apps you shield never leaves your phone. I cannot read it. Breath detection runs on the device and writes no video file. There is no advertising and nothing is sold on.
The rest of the site
- The Method: why a pause works where a wall does not.
- The journal: a hundred short pieces on attention, autopilot and the apps that farm both.
- Stop scrolling: what to do about one app in particular.
- Now: what I am working on this month.
- Ideas: things I want to exist and have not built.
