Terms of Use

These terms cover the reCalm app and this website. By using either one, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

What reCalm is

reCalm shields the apps you choose and asks for one breath before they open. It is a habit tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition, and it is not therapy or medical advice. If you are unwell, talk to a clinician.

Breathing exercises can make some people lightheaded. Practise sitting down, and stop if you feel unwell.

Your account

An account is optional. If you make one, keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens under it. Do not use the app to break the law, and do not try to reverse engineer, resell, or interfere with it.

You need to be at least 13 to use reCalm.

Free and paid

The breathing practice is free, with no account required. Practice unlocks the rest, and is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the App Store.

Practice includes the app shield, checkpoints at your own cadence, Breath Check with the camera, the daily reminder, and sync across your devices.

Subscription Length Price
Practice 1 year $49.99 (about $0.96 a week)
Practice 1 month $9.99
Practice 1 week $6.99

Prices are United States dollars. In other countries Apple sets the local price, and the app shows it before you buy. A 7-day free trial is offered on the year and month plans to Apple IDs that are eligible.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
  • A subscription renews automatically for the same period, at the same price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings, under your Apple ID, in Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it.

Use of the app is also covered by Apple's standard licence: Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement.

Free trials

Where a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is lost if you buy a subscription during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, it becomes a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up. Trial eligibility is decided by Apple, per Apple ID.

Prices and changes

Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, and they include any tax Apple collects. We may change prices for future periods. If we do, Apple tells you before the change takes effect and asks you to agree.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are Apple's to give. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund an App Store purchase ourselves. If something is broken, write to us anyway and we will help where we can.

Restoring a purchase

If you reinstall the app or move to a new device, tap Restore on the paywall or in Membership. This asks Apple for the purchases made with the Apple ID you are signed in with. A purchase made with a different Apple ID cannot be restored to this one.

What we owe you, and what we do not

We work to keep reCalm running, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of faults. Shielding depends on Apple's Screen Time framework and on iOS behaving as documented, which is outside our control.

To the extent the law allows, reCalm is provided as is, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here removes rights you have under consumer law where you live.

Ending it

You can stop using reCalm at any time by deleting the app, and cancel the subscription through Apple. If you made an account, you can delete it and everything in it from inside the app: the You tab, then Settings, then Delete account. We may suspend an account that abuses the service or breaks these terms.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we will change the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new version.
